THE CLIMATE TOWER:
HEAT TRANSITION – DONE VERTICALLY
It is quiet and compact. Powerful, cost-efficient and quick to build. It blends in aesthetically with its surroundings. And it supplies entire neighbourhoods, streets and building complexes with sustainable heating and cooling: Discover the Climate Tower (Klimaturm) – the vertical air-to-water large heat pump.
CLIMATE-FRIENDLY HEATING IN EXISTING
AND NEW BUILDINGS
To achieve the heat transition, solutions have to work in unrenovated buildings as well. With a heat output of 0.3 – 1.5 MW, a Climate Tower can supply up to 200 households in existing buildings and 400 households in new buildings. Building renovations are not necessary. An optional cooling function is available.
- Heating capacity: 300 – 1500 kW at -8 °C air temperature
- Suitable for use at outside air temperatures down to -15 °C
- Flow temperature: 55 – 85 °C
- Flow temperature in cooling mode: 6 – 12 °C
- COP 2.4 even at air temperatures of -8 °C
- Annual performance factor 3.0
- Energy-efficient defrosting of air evaporators
- Ideal even for use in buildings with radiators
QUIET HEAT FOR RESIDENTIAL AREAS
Like a soft whisper or the gentle rustling of leaves: with a noise level of less than 35 dB(A) at a distance of 10 metres, the Climate Tower is barely noticeable accoustically. This makes for peaceful sleep at night and concentrated work during the day. The Climate Tower meets the most stringent legal requirements for noise protection – even in densely developed areas. This is a truly unique feature for an air heat pump in this performance class.
- Vertical design minimises noise emissions: a specially developed air flow concept directs air quietly away via the top of the tower.
- Minimisation of airborne noise emissions through silencers above and below the fans
- For minimal noise emission, the large heat pump sits in a concrete cube.
SUSTAINABLE HEATING MADE COST-EFFICIENT
The Climate Tower is sustainable in both economic and ecological terms: Over the course of a year, the Climate Tower draws around two-thirds of its heating energy from the ambient air, with one-third being required as electricity to operate the large heat pump. The pump uses a natural refrigerant, which has a particularly good environmental track record.
In combination with an optional large-scale heat storage tank and our specially developed demand-side management system, operation is based on the availability of renewable energies. The generated heat is stored in the large heat storage tank as hot water – for times when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow. This means that heat is produced sustainably and at particularly favourable electricity prices.
- Lower operating costs thanks to variable electricity tariffs and the use of large heat storage tanks (80–200 m³) as well as demand-side management
- Use of natural refrigerants that also meet future environmental requirements (e.g. Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases)
- Compliance with legal requirements and subsidy conditions (BEW, GEG, BEG, KfW, QNG) thanks to a high proportion of renewable energies and low primary energy factor
A LARGE HEAT PUMP REQUIRING LITTLE SPACE
Just the size of about two parking spaces: thanks to its vertical design, the patent-pending Climate Tower reduces the floor space for the entire heating system to a minimum.
- Floor space of the Climate Tower: 3.8 × 3.8 – 5.6 × 5.6 metres – depending on heating output
- Required floor space including surrounding maintenance access approx. 6.5 × 6.5 metres
- Required floor space including optionally available large heat storage tank approx. 6.5 × 11.0 metres
- Large heat storage tank may be installed elsewhere in the neighbourhood
- No general minimum distance from residential buildings required
- May be connected directly to medium voltage supply via an optionally integrable network station – space savings due to elimination of external network station
- Electrical engineering, pressure maintenance and pump group for heat distribution all contained within the tower
INTELLIGENT OPERATION FOR EFFICIENT HEATING
The AI-based operation optimisation of the Climate Tower learns independently. It is individually tailored to your neighbourhood and takes into account building types, weather forecasts, predicted heating requirements, supply of renewable energies and electricity market prices.
- In-house developed demand-side management
- Significant reduction of operating costs of the Climate Tower
- Interface for data transmission (e.g. LoRaWan) included
HEAT SUPPLY TURNING INTO ARCHITECTURE
The Climate Tower will not be invisible – it becomes part of the aesthetics and architecture of your neighbourhood. Printable panels enable a completely individual and easily adaptable façade design. In addition, materials such as greenery, Corten steel or textile façades open up a wide range of design options – from sober to artistic.
- Basic equipment with HPL panels: weatherproof, particularly durable high-pressure laminate for outdoor use
- Individual design possible thanks to suspended façade: greened, coloured, mirrored or with integrated LED surfaces
- Involvement of local artists and/or architects for individual presentation possible
QUICK SOLUTIONS FOR THE HEAT TRANSITION
Due to its prefabricated modular design, the Climate Tower is ready for operation after 3-4 months of construction. The implementation phase on site is thus significantly shortened. We are also happy to assist you with permit planning as well as the structural foundations for the Climate Tower and the large heat storage tanks.
- Completely ready for operation – easy integration into existing heating networks
- Support with permit planning, e.g. preparation of noise reports, structural and statics calculations as well as preparation and support with planning permission applications
- Support with the structural foundation and base for the Climate Tower and large heat storage tanks
